Being brave doesn’t always mean there’s no sign of weakness. In fact, the definition is “being ready to face and endure danger or pain; showing courage”.
Being in a relationship is not always cupcakes and rainbows, and God never tells us that living a life for Him would be utopia, but He does promise to make us brave. He sees the big picture and longs to walk alongside of you to bless you with the unfolding beauty His love inevitably brings. In the process of seeing a flower bloom, there are seasons of hard labor, rain, gloom, and slow, sometimes invisible growth, but it all leads to a worthwhile result and memorable journey. God designed you with the intention that your life would bloom into beauty beyond this world, and He is excited for you to see the artwork He has painted specifically for you. Although this adventure sometimes leads to uncertainties, chaos, or requires us to go headfirst into a storm we aren’t sure we’re prepared for, God has a promise. His promise is that as long as we go with Him, He will make us brave to endure the things we don’t understand, and we will be empowered by His love to conquer that which would crush us apart from Him. A lot of times we try to put on a bold face, and we start to rely on ourselves rather than trusting in God but let me remind you: God is not asking you to be strong. He is asking you to let Him make you brave so that you can endure it, so your light can shine, not so that you can make things happen, but so that you can be included in what He is already doing. We were not meant to fool those around us into thinking we have cracked the code to a perfect life: you are going to fall short at times. But also remember, your failures do not surprise Him; His promise was extended knowing all your sins in advance. He has called you in your insufficiency so that His grace can abound to reveal His love through the gaps of your weakness. We were called to have a shift of perspective and give thought to our ways. You might not know when the rain is coming, but trust God in the moment to prepare you and carry you through it. Let Him make you brave, stand firm, and walk on to see the beauty found in why God chose to wake you up today.
“I perceived that whatever God does endures forever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it.”
Ecclesiastes 3:14
“A wicked man puts on a bold face, but the upright gives thought to his ways.”
Proverbs 21:29
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
2 Corinthians 12:9
“Who was I that I could stand in God’s way?”
Acts 11:17
